Flutter Friend-CQC

So honesty time.  I attended the Regional Stampin' Up event in February and saw some really great projects using window sheets.  I came home and put them on my next order.  Fast forward to AUGUST, my first window card!

It's been a while since I did a challenge.  I still look at them every week but just haven't participated....till I saw these fun colors over at Colour Q.


So up my alley!  I love bright colors and I decided to pull out those window sheets and use a Clean and Simple design (my favorite).  Final result....

I decided to make a square card so I started with a 4 1/4" square piece of Basic Black.  I then cut my window sheet 4" by 8" so I could fold it and have a 4" square and attached it to the black piece using glue dots.  The only negative is you have to cover the glue somehow, so I attached a piece of 3 3/4" square Whisper White card stock in the middle.  I've seen some great CAS cards with frames, so I took out my trusty ruler and Black Stampin' Up marker and made a 1/2" frame around the white card stock.  I took my Friendly Phrases stamp set out and inked it up with Black ink.  For the butterflies, I used the Beautiful Wings embosslit and ran my colored card stock through the big shot.  I did this two times for each color as I attached with glue dots  to the top of the window sheet again and didn't want them to show when you opened the card so I attached the same butterfly on the inside.  (Hope this makes sense!) Before I attached them though, I added our new Mini Brads (love). 

I love the look of this card and may have to use window sheets again....hopefully not 6 months from now!

Back to School....

These may be naughty words for some.  I apologize.  But I feel like it's right around the corner with all the ads for clothes and supplies.  I made this little card to give to my daughter.  She'll be in SECOND grade.  How did that happen?  I thought about her when I made it, and I can't wait to give it to her on that first day of school. 

  

The card base is Blushing Bride, I layered on a piece from the Just Add Cake DSP, and then a piece of Poppy Parade.  I then scrunched some Baja Breeze seam binding on top of that.  For the center, I cut a 3" circle from Early Espresso cardstock using the Big Shot Die.  I then punched a 2 1/2" circle from Whisper White and used the School Lines stamp with Baja Breeze ink to give it that notebook look.  I then stamped the Greeting Cards Kid image using Staz On and used colors from the DSP and my blender pen to color the image.  I cut out around the kids and added them to the circle with dimensionals.  

I can/can't wait to give it to her!

Clean and Simple Button Buddies

There are a TON of great new stamp sets in the New Idea and Catalog Book and one of the cutest has to be Button Buddies.  It's images are designed to be used with buttons.  Because I will be mailing this card, I skipped the buttons but I still LOVE the look!

 

For the buttons I used my Sweet Buttons Embosslit.  This is a perfect substitute.  I then added some Crystal Effects and lightly sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds.  I colored the image with my markers and then stamped it on Whisper White and then punched it out with the 2.5 circle punch.  This is layered with a Real Red scallop circle from the Scallop Circles #2 die, and then an Old Olive 3" circle cut from the die. The greeting is from the Friendly Phrases set-my favorite new saying set!- and is stamped in Old Olive ink.  I finished the card with 5/8" Real Red satin ribbon and added a bow to the cherries made out of 1/8" Old Olive ribbon.

Super cute and super simple.

 

Another Non-Stamping SU Project

I wanted to share a project my husband and I created yesterday....that doesn't involve stamps.

It's a chalkboard!  Stampin' Up has a great collection called Decor Elements.  These can be applied to walls and glass, and in this case a piece of plywood.  My husband made the frame for it, then I painted the background our new Pool Party color.  (I took a piece of it to a home improvement store and they matched it.) The next step is applying the elements, which are super easy!  This one is retired, but our new Idea Book and Catalog have some great designs.  I still have a to-do list and calendar one, so look for those soon.

Wedding Bling MOJO190/PPA93

For this card I'm combining two challenges.  The layout is from Mojo Monday.



The inspiration is from Pal Paper Arts. This week is anything wedding related.
Here is my finished card:

I used Very Vanilla as my card base.  Next I inked up my Vintage Wallpaper using my brayer with Basic Black and ran a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock through my Big Shot.  This added more dimension with the embossing folder.  I also ran a piece of Basic Black through this folder and lined up the image.  The center piece is made with the Scallop Square #2 die, Scallop Rectangle Clearlit and Word Play stamp set.  To make the black rectangle, I ran the piece through the big shot three different times to create the shape, lining it up each time.  I then took a piece of Basic Black satin ribbon and layered that with Very Vanilla seam binding.  I then used the Floral Fusion die to create the Very Vanilla flower.  Last, I added lots of rhinestones to "bling" up the card.
