DSC #229

I can't seem to find time to blog.  Create. Yes. Blog. I'd rather be playing with ink than the computer.  I wanted to play along with the DOStampers this week.  Check out this inspiration image:

I love the Cool Treats stamp set and pulled it out....and opened the framelits.  Oops.  Thank goodness they are sticking around.  Here is my card:

I started by stamping "SWEET" down the side of Thick White Cardstock.  Then I just built from there.  I added a strip of Pool Party DSP from the Tasty Treat DSP.  I used my markers to add some sprinkles to a white stitched circle then cut out my cone.  Reminds me of sherbet!

Be sure to hop around and see what my fellow DoStampers created!

Display Stamper Projects

In January I received an email I was chosen to be a Display Stamper at the Minneapolis OnStage. I was thrilled, even more thrilled when the box of supplies arrived.  There immediately was some items that I loved...and some I had to really scratch my head over.  Another reason I love Stampin' Up...they have something for everyone.  Well sit back, grab a snack and let me show you my projects:

The first item I fell in love with was the Tree Rings Background Stamp.  I instantly thought of a Lumberjack 1st Birthday Party.  I made the invite first-the buffalo check is done by using the Brushstrokes background stamp.  Stamp, then reink and turn your paper 90 degrees and then stamp again.  Next I made a cute little banner using some of our ribbon trims.  I also had a dear friend make a buffalo check 1 cookie and made a treat topper but my kiddos ripped into that cookie as soon as I brought it home...it had been in the freezer for weeks.

Also using the Tree Ring stamp I made these 2 cards.  I masked it on the Acorny Thank You card.

Next up, I wanted to highlight the new In Colors.  I LOVE THEM!  I especially adore the Powder Pink.  I used the Endless Birthday Wishes set (I'm going to miss this one, with 2 kiddos it was my go to birthday party card set.)  I was sent 3 of the 5 inks...so I used Versa Mark and Clear Emboss Powder for the other 2.  I also used the new Hearts & Stars Elements.

Next up, I made this book mark using the Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide colors.  I love, love this Bug set.  I know its a miss for some, but it was a total hit in my book!

Next I created this simple card to highlight all 10 of the In Colors.  Unfortunately, the bitty butterfly punch will be soon disappearing.  I think these colors really play well together!

Next I did a little scrapbooking.  This is really where my heart will always lead me.  I started playing with SU products because I loved the coordination of their products I couldn't find at my local scrapbooking store.  I received a pack of the Bundle of Love Specialty DSP, and I'm so happy I did!  Honestly, the catalog doesn't do it any justice and truthfully I would have skipped it. The gold just shines!  I found this photo of my girls and it was an easy spread.  Above the photo, you'll see the new Circle Tab punch.  The Heart elements are also on the page.

On the flip side of the gold, is either Blushing Bride or Soft Sky.  I chose the Blushing Bride to go with these photos.  They are some of my all time favorites!  Both of my girls play softball, so a few years ago, I ordered these costumes for Halloween and had a friend take these photos.  While checking in at On Stage, I overheard someone talking about this page.  Thank you, it made my day!

Next I made this quick and easy card.  It features new Fresh Fig card stock, ribbon, and bow.  This ribbon is lovely!  So.darn.soft!  I was delighted to see that the stamp set All Things Thanks is sticking around.

Next up, I played with the Pick a Pattern Washi tape.  For the top card I just laid some strips down to ground my circle.  The bottom card, I laid four pieces of the same washi to create my own DSP.  The bottom card features the Pool Party shimmer ribbon...also amazing!  I have to say SU hit it out of the ballpark with ribbons this year!

Last, I played with the other stamp set I received...and it was a head scratcher for some reason. It's called Little One.  I first made the Penguin card if you can believe it.  The sentiment is "Get Your Swaddle On" but I omitted the S...I thought I was pretty clever.  That card also shows you the Soft Sky side of the Bundle of Love DSP.

All of the items I recieved were in typical SU packaging...except 2 pieces of shiny white paper.  I called my coordinator to see if they were random or a product. Turns out it was Glossy Paper.  Now, I know many are excited about it's return...and I can't wait to see your projects because I had to turn to YouTube.  I did a marbling  technique (I'm sure I messed it up, because it didn't marble) with Flamingo reinker, for my Welcome Little One card.  I embossed with gold embossing powder and used my markers to add a touch of color, and finished it with new Flamingo twine.

Last up is my arrow card.  I used them from the Love Notes Framelits because TeePees and arrows just go together, no?  There is a sentiment, but it didn't photograph well.  I love the Tranquil, Navy, and Slate color combo.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed seeing these projects.  I know I enjoyed being a Display Stamper and encourage everyone to submit to be one.  It was fun playing with new supplies, but also to see others enjoy your work at On Stage.

thanks,
bobbie

Hey Chick

One of the perks of attending On Stage last November was I got a sneak peak at the Sale-a-bration catalog.  The Hey Chick stood out as a "yes, please."  However, I thought one phrase was left out, so today I made my own.  Take a look-

I mean how can you have that image with out that saying?!?!  If you have noticed, the Labeler Alphabet set hasn't been shelved in quite some time.  I always have believed alphabet sets give me the best bang for my buck!-especially as a scrapbooker.

I water colored with Pool Party, Watermelon Wonder, and Tip Top Taupe.  I went to to add a scalloped circle to the vocal point when my Big Shot bit the dust.  (insert sad face. I've had it for 7 years and between my projects, and the girls' school projects it has served its time. rip) So what to do now?  I saw my in-color doilies on my desk-another reason why I have a big desk and like to have things at my finger tips.  I cut it down a bit and it was perfect.

I'll also fill you in on another secret.  I smudged in the corner.  I didn't want to reink the saying so I added a few blotches with the Grunge set.

Be sure to get in on this adorable set!  It's only available until March 31st. Ask me how you can earn it for FREE.

DSC #216:My Kind of Colors

Hello!  I'm on a roll with this blogging thing.  As a member of the DOstamper Stars, I love these challenges but I find myself using a sketch or color after the fact.  This week is a color challenges and these are by far the easiest for me.  Take a look at this color combo:

Real Red combined with Soft Sky or Pool Party is one of my favorite combos!  I'm still enjoying playing with some puns for Valentines.  Here's what I came up with:

When I saw the Nailed It set I knew it would be mine.  With a handy husband, I knew this set would get a good workout. He actually came in my craft studio when I was creating this card and thought I should stamp the "nut" instead of the screw and change the saying to "you drive me nuts."

I ended up watercoloring with ink because I couldn't get the pencil as dark as I wanted it.  A Soft Sky heart enamel was just the right finishing touch.  I love, love those enamels!

"pun"ny valentines

These cards are so "not me." I have girls. They were never into dinosaurs. I only have the No Bones About It set because of scrapping Science Museum field trips and The Field Museum. Well valentines are are over in the box stores and I saw some adorable ones using puns.  It got me thinking what sets did I have in order to create my own. I created these four cards today--

So. Darn. Cute, if I may say. Again, I love how versatile our products are!  The Smoky Slate heart DSP is from the A Little Foxy 6 X 6 paper back. The Labeler Alphabet stamp set allowed me to create all of these fun sayings.  I did happen to use retired Slate twine in the top card, I didn't see the R on the side of my spool, but you could switch in Cucumber, White or Natural twine.

I have some more ideas for non-traditional Valentine cards.  Make sure you stop back!

Dust Bunnies

Wow. It's been some time. A full time day gig does that I guess. Well I attended Onstage in Madison, WI last November and I wrote down "display stamper" under my goals. Well, I finished my projects and only now noticed it was a Friday cut off and Sunday...but the link is open so here goes. I love each one of them!
I love the versatility of Stampin' Up products--your would never know this was Holiday paper and Halloween twine.
I have a paper crafting crush on SU Artisan Sharron Lane.  This a play off her color blocking.
One of the best parts of attending Onstage is seeing the Catalog before everyone else!  I knew this set was going on my wish list.  I simply used my grid paper and lined up the stamps then pressed my block on them.  Instant background.  This also uses the new Watercolor Pencils. LOVE!

I love scrap booking.  Its really how I fell into SU products.  I wanted everything to coordinate.  Another item on my instant wish list was the Tasty Treats DSP.  I loved the colors.  Here I used it to create a background with the Big Letters.  She walked in and said I spent way too much time on this...but I don't believe so.  I love when they look through their books!
I sound like a broken record...these egg cartons.  I knew they would be mine!  I spritzed them using our reinkers and rubbing alcohol.  Such great coverage.  My kiddos are 10 and 13...the Easter bunny days are over but they still love some chocolate and a Starbucks gift card, and these are the perfect size!

My kiddos loathe when I make their friends a birthday card.  They really think I'm going to go to Target and buy one.  Nope.  Not happening.  However, lately these little Mini Treat bags have been their go to.  Create a belly band, washi a gift card in, and done!

thanks for looking.  -Bobbie

HSS-182 with Guest

I made this week's Hand Stamped Sentiments card a month ago because I grabbed the wrong sketch AND I had a little help!  My oldest daughter needed a birthday card for a friend and she helped me work on this one.  Here's the sketch:

Here is OUR work:

It's been a horrible winter!  Can you tell it was snowing out and we did--tried--an indoor photo?

She wanted the sentiment crooked!  The stamper in me tries not to look at it!  :)

She chose Rose Red and Midnight Muse as her colors.  The doily we inked up with Muse ink and sprinkled and heat set some dazzling diamonds.  We added in the gray so she could write her birthday message in the inside.

Be sure to go and check out the rest of the crew's work!  And play with us, remember you have 2 weeks!
